First let me say that when i had my anti virus software going correctly i was having people in chatrooms know what was in my documents and reading it back to me, it said people were trying to get into email accounts and trying to guess passwords and disc trays were opening and shutting by themselves.. so i did a system restore. this disabled my firewall for some reason. This was about 5 days ago. So i turned on the windows firewall temporarily till i get around to installing new anti virus.. now once in awhile every 4 or 5 hours or so the firewall will turn off on me out of the blue. Like someone is turning it on and off and i go and switch it back. What does this sound like to you?

I have trouble logging in to messenger and the main site, it will show loading forever than time out or tell me my inputted info is wrong when it is right., but if I leave the account logged in and close the window it keeps me logged in, it is just when I return if I try and log out or change settings it can't cause it times out again. I want most for messenger to work it will just say its logging in forever and ever and than say no you cant you used the wrong info. Once in a blue moon it lets me on and than i have problems with it seeing my camera which is okay just annoying. I am on a Mac G4 tower but all my software is as new as it gets.

Resolved Question: My boyfriend has accused me of monitoring his yahoo messenger chats from a remote laptop. How would I do this?

He lives 400 miles away, has a PC that has been completely re-imaged since I've visited, and he thinks I am looking at his chats on line somehow. Without installing some kind of spy or sniffer software directly to his laptop (could i even do this from 400 miles away? I'm not on his network or anything like that!), is there anyway I could even accomplish this if I wanted to? What if I had his password?

From what I can tell on my own Messenger account, chat logs are saved to the hard drive of the computer accessed from, not on a server somewhere. Also, I know from experience that 2 people can't be logged onto the same account at the same time....it always kicks the original user off with a message to that effect.

I know it seems like the relationship is doomed anyway, but it would mean a lot to me if I could somehow convince him that I'm not so snoopy as to monitor his chats.
if I logged onto his account at the same time he was logged on, how would i actually be able to see his chats? would just clicking on one of his contacts that he happens to be chatting with let me watch the messages back and forth?

I needed to change my PC's hard drive, so I lost all of the software I had installed on it. I have a Westell gateway (a router/DSL modem) for internet connection, but since I lost the Verizon DSL software, I have to reinstall it. I tried to do this but the installation CD does not allow you to reinstall the software on the same computer unless you are a new, rather than existing, user. I do not want to create a new Verizon account, I simply want to reconfigure the router so that I can connect to the Internet. But If I choose "existing user," the program saids that it cannot detect an ethernet adapter, which is needed to pick up the signal from my router. So basically it is assuming that I am trying to connect a second computer to the network, which is not the case. So is there any other way to reconfigure the router?

I'm doing my taxes using TaxCut software, and I want to make sure I'm filing properly (i.e., no cheating). Here are my two questions.

1) My wife and I are filing jointly and our AGI is $146,000, which we're happy about because we would qualify for the full stimulus refund (since our AGI is below $150,000). However, when I account for some stock I sold this year, our AGI gets bumped up to $151,500. (Some background: I purchased my company's stock through an employee purchase program since 1999, but I sold all that stock this year. The total cost was about $40,000 and I sold it for about $46,000). Is there anyway I can somehow lower my AGI by $2,000 so I qualify for the full stimulus rebate?

2) I bought a used car in 2007 on which I paid about $2,000 in state/county taxes. How do I account for it?

I go to the apple sign in the top left corner, then go to shut down. I hate manually shutting down, because I'm sure its not good for the system. It also won't let me log off once booted on. Open Question: Newbie to Forex?

I have been investing in the stock market for several years, but recently Forex has caught my eye with claims of huge profits, and I have some questions:

1. Is there a site with free tutorials about Forex, the same way Investopedia.com has for stocks? Is there a Forex simulator where I can try it out using fake money?

2. What kind of initial investment does Forex require? What are the commissions/fees like if any? What is the average return (%) for most Forex investors?

3. Where/how do you open up an account? (I'm Canadian.)

4. Is it a lot more speculative/luck-based than the stock market? (A lot higher risk?)

5. I've heard a lot of people talking about "systems", "software", etc that they are charging money for. Is there any free software I can get? Are most of the people involved with Forex scam artists or are there some legitimate ones?

Failed to instal "logmein" on my comp. i have XP. There was no error message but the installation repeatedly stop midway. I hade turned off the virus scan as well as the firewalls. Later I logged in from the administrator account but still the installation failed. what else could be the reason. i need help. pronto.

Resolved Question: What is this and how do I get rid of it?

When you download a trial software and it expires after you uninstall it and you download it again how does it know you already had it and its still expired...is it a cookie and I already tried cleaning softwares and it seems the software has left a print on my computer for my safety where I would find this and delete it without opening a new windows account....

Open Question: I can't log in to yahoo! ?

i have to computers, one of them is a Dell PC windows xp, and a laptop, windows 2000.
my PC can't log in to any kind of yahoo account, it said "The page cannot be displayed" but i can log in to every other email accounts, gmail, hotmail, etc. and it's JUST this one pc that won't log me in... i tried installing anti-virus software, which found 2 viruses, but i still can't go on yahoo! mail. and i tried installing firefox, but nothing happened, help?

ps. i know all the basics to a computer, so don't tell me to check the internet connection or plug something in, because it's ONLY yahoo! mail that I can't go on....

Voting Question: Can I have a domain (like www.domain.com) point to a folder on my web server, like (www.server.com/domain)?

I'd like to run another website on my web server. I want to use at least two unique domains. Basically, if someone enters the new domain, say domain.com, it's really accessing a folder on my server (say server.com/domain/, but the url looks like the user is on the domain.com website. I don't have web hosting software that manages multiple accounts like a professional reseller web host. Is there something I setup with the domain name company, and use like a "virtual host" or something like that?
