I just downloaded the software update and I have iTunes 7.6 and my iPod software is 1.1.4. I have purchased it but it has not synced or appeared in my iPod. I have rebooted the computer, disconnected the ipod, but still, no sign of an upgrade. If I try to repurchase the software, it says I can't because I've already made the purchase. It also appears in my iTunes billing account.

Open Question: Is anyone else having a 553 smtp problem with Vista windows mail ?

I am using my bt yahoo email account to allow sending of business emails when at home using my btinternet broadband. It has worked fine for the last 3 months, set with the required authentication settings. But alas it has been intermitent for the last 48 hours and now it has stopped working completely. I suspect something has changed with either Windows mail (was outlook express for XP OS) or with Yahoo settings - but as usual "users" would be the last people to find out. Any help much appreciated - as I am unlikely to get it from Yahoo or microsoft - as I am just a paying customer !

BTW - if you are considering getting Vista - DONT, worst computing experience ever - or am I jsut getting fed up with software and hardware manufactureres who dont give a poop about their users.

Hi all im a quadriplegic and im trying to get full use of my phone. I have limited movement in my hands so i cant physically use my mobile phone, but i have full use of my computer. I have a program on my pc which allows me to sync with my phone through the network (telstra text buddy; Aust.) and send messages to whoever and its charged to my prepaid account. Now the problem is that i cant RECEIVE a text message so i cant veiw it on my pc. Does anyone know of any software that will sync with my network and or usb (mobile to pc) so that i can retreive my text messages and be that little extra independent.

When trying to install a program I got an error telling me that

I can't get a convincing answer from neither my IT guy (who is a Microsoft certified tech) nor the "specialist" who he suggested. I'm trying both and Peachtree seem much more user friendly; however, these guys say that it won't be an inexpensive move form Peachtree to a manufacturing software whereas with Microsoft's Accounting software costs less and is more versatile to "accept" manufacturing packages. I downloaded a new piece of software called SUNBIRD. It is the email client for FIREFOX. In order to set up you email you need to know things like: SMTP. whatever. com, etc. or the outgoing server. You need this information if you want to set up mail through OUTLOOK.

One of my email accounts is in NETSCAPE and I'll be dam**ed if I can find the settings anywhere in the browser. The same for YAHOO and MSN. What is the big deal? Why do these companies hide such basic information.

My main pain is that NETSCAPE advised using Sunbird because they are dis-continuing support for NETSCAPE. Any help on finding out the settings for various email services: yahoo, msn, gmail, aol, netscape etc

Very reluctantly I took a free college-branded email account from where I am about to earn my degree from so I can apply for jobs and look more legit. The downside? It runs ONLY in Outlook, which I developed a deep hatred for at my last job, since it screws itself up at the drop of a hat takes forever to refresh and update, and takes in new messages like you are downloading Lord of The Rings on a dialup modem! All these software dinks like to front like MS is the very epitome of software design and function, but how come Outlook perpetually sucks? I use Hotmail, which runs very well, yet is free and is ALSO a MS product. How does a "top shelf" product like Outlook run so terribly while a something they offer for free runs like a top?
You think they have have plenty of time to improve Outlook to the point where it doesn't suck and it isn't a chore to have to use though, I mean this is Microsoft here! Then again I suppose being a dominating, monolithic software company does afford you a lot of chances to be complacent. . .
Oh yeah William, answer me this: how come Outlook drags and drags, no matter where I use it: with PC, on a Mac, newer computer/older computer in whichever way I use it, it runs like crap and takes an eternity to do anything! What do you have to say now, Mr. Microsoft Champion?
Notice, people, how William blames MANY of the problems of Outlook on the email services he opens with it, so even by his on admission William concedes that his beloved Outlook is responsible for its poor performance.

Voting Question: Please help! Capital One cannot locate our $3000 payment via ACH transfer.?

We have now submitted 3 different traces on the payment. One with the agency governing the ACH transfer, one with the bank and lastly with the federal reserve. All three show that the payment was put into our account - HOWEVER that account was closed because my purse was stolen. Capital One stated that their software cannot see closed accounts. The money is sitting in e-land and we are still accruing interest on that $3k plus we cannot close our account until it's resolved. By the way....we have been trying since July 06! I'm not kidding!

since using norton 360 i have endless problems regarding virus's, malware, spyware etc....they wanted 100 euros to sort out a problem i couldn't fix (i emailed BBC's watchdog regarding the support norton offers) so far i spoken to karun<, sibil and ajun, who recommended norton support. eventualy i sorted the problem using AVG free antivirus (highly recommended) and sana software. Building high-end computers is a hobby of mine, and right now the one i have is getting really old and no longer keeping up with the demands of modern software, so i put together a cart of parts on Newegg.com to build a pc using the best possible parts within practicality for a desktop computer, and the total runs about $1600. Now I have gotten a $9000 loan for a Harley and paid it off, so i can use that for some collateral, and i also currently have been paying on a $13k car loan for a year. That would have the monthly payment as less than a week's pay, and allow me to establish some credit (i have never owned a credit card and refuse to, thanks to my debit card working in every place a credit card is needed) and also would put the new computer into my hands without depleting my bank account (low from switching jobs recently).

Would a big-name walk-in bank give me a short term loan for this?

In our home laptop (windows Xp, 2.5 years old) we have two different user accounts. Today morning, internet explorer (7) in the account we use frequently failed to start and most of the programs don't work. Spyware and antivirus softwares also don't work. The other user account we don't use has no problem at all. When I checked the user accounts both user accounts are administrator level accounts. I installed the latest version of norton through the working account, but it is not getting updated. Please give me your suggestions as to how to resolve this problem. I found an answer for a similar question instructing to delete and add the account, in that scenario what will happen to the desktop files of the affected user account and my document files? Thanks.
